If you know me, you know I LOVE Gilmore Girls. I live my life in GG quotes and coffee. Also, when I am shopping for clothes I gravitate towards silhouettes worn by the girls. So this sparked my idea for The Gilmore Girls Project.
I started shopping on Thredup years ago and it is my go to way to shop. If I see something I want quickly I typically go to Target, although, Walmart here in our country town has upped its' clothing game. When I started shopping on thredup I would only search for things up to $10. I'm disappointed to say that they changed some policies for the items that are sold to thredup for resell. The prices started increasing and now it's hard to find pieces that are under ten bucks. I still don't budge on the budget. I won't pay over twenty usually. In my opinion they have acquired too many designer pieces from individuals selling to the company looking to make a major profit. Obnoxious! Just sell on posh please. I want quality pieces at resell prices. I digress...
My message with The Gilmore Girls Project is to buy pieces secondhand that look similar to what they wear on the show. I want to encourage other women to shop secondhand and still feel amazing.
I don't dress in the latest fast fashion pieces. I'm not afraid to try different styles, but my wallet won't let me partake of every new style that comes out. I also don't want to just wear tees and jeans. I'm over it. I try to buy new pieces that will make my wardrobe more grown up. I'm a thirty something mom and I need to dress the part. Some styles are just off limits for this girl. This is why I appreciate the girls' wardrobes. They wear classic lines and spice it up with pattern and color.
Y'all I want other moms to take pride in their old t shirts and clothes they've had over ten years. If we can't buy a bunch of new clothes every year then let's find ways to wear all of the clothes we own with a new twist.
