Thanksgiving 2012

This Thanksgiving was very low key and low stress (nice). Ryan's immediate family planned to go to Austin and changed their plans about three days before and decided to stay in Crosby. It was just his sisters, us, and his parents. The food was great and everything quite normal.

We headed out to my uncle's in Conroe to celebrate with my side of the family. We were only there three or four hours, but it was good to see everyone. There was a fire in the back after dinner. It was cozy.

Happy Thanksgiving

I Am Thankful For

1. God's provision. It's been a wacky few months, but I know the Lord has plans for us. He promises us in His word.

2. God preparing my heart. I've been reading several devotionals a day and listening for the Lord. He is speaking and preparing me to hear from Him and mold me into a new person.

3. God's creation. Being able to see the sunrise and sunset everyday. To hear the animals, the wind in the trees, the coolness of the season, and the miracle of life.

4. Our home church. I am thankful that we are back at our home church with loving friends and people who do God's work.

5. The work of our home church. The church and it's leader are relentless in sharing God's word all over our city and around the world. I am thankful for a church that is full of truth and love for God's people.

6. My husband. Of course. He is wonderful. Putting how much I love him into words never seems to do it justice. I love him more than a thousand favorites.

7. My health. It seems there is always something wrong with my health at any given time of the year. I am thankful that I have my allergies under control and no serious health issues.

8. Work. I am thankful for the the temporary job I have to get us through the season, and Ryan's stable job.

9. Brothers. I am thankful that I have brothers and not sisters. The competition of sisters is unreal and the fights so bitter.

10. Memories. I am thankful for the memories I have made, the friends I've had, and the moments with those I love. Reminiscing makes my heart happy.

May your thanksgiving be filled with the spirit of Lord as you enjoy family and friends
Love from our family to yours
Happy Thanksgiving 2012

Fall Styling

I got a cute pair of boots from Old Navy (duh), also a dress and shirt that were on sale. Seriously, the dress was $20 and they still had an XS, bought it! The shirt was $10. The boots, not on sale, but I wanted a pair of ankle boots in a tan color to wear with my skirts and skinny jeans for fall. I don't usually buy clothes for new seasons, uh because I don't have the money, I just usually buy cute stuff if I see it on sale. But, I only go shopping when I have a specific event to go to and then I never find what I'm looking for and buy a sale item. I plan to wear the dress for the family Christmas party. With my boots. Don't be surprised it it's also on the Christmas card, I'm pretty sure the boots will be.

The dress came with a cute pink belt. I wore the shirt already and love everything about it. It's a perfect tee.

Now
If I bought for every season:

Super slouchy sweaters

Herringbone vest

Hunter green pants

Plum pants, and a leopard scarf

Fur vest

This lovely jacket

New riding boots

Cute fall dress

Loafer pumps

This coat (I actually NEED it!)

This brown woven leather bag

Fall Pumpkins

I dressed the small pumpkins on the porch for Thanksgiving. Pretty boring.

I like how the give thanks pumpkin is very crooked.

I fixed it

*Not my house = boring decorations*
That really bums me out too

Afternoon Walk

Last weekend I was really bored on Sunday evening and I didn't want to stay in the house. It was probably about 5 so the sun was still up and the weather was nice. I insisted that we go walk with the dogs. A trail was just built down the street and Ryan and I have taken our bikes, so we went for a walk with the dogs.
The trail is nice and they even built a cute playground too. Mosby has never really been in the woods before, so it was funny to watch him go crazy over all the sounds and trees. Coco's a woods pro though. He's gone camping. It was a lovely walk, much enjoyed.

 He was so excited

Someone wrote "get crunk" on the bridge; yikes

Epiphany

It's more like a duh moment, but it came so strongly I will call it an epiphany.

I've made excuses for why I left my job, and I guess I didn't realize how badly I would want to work. I don't need to work, we just have to monitor the bank account closely and be obedient with our money as God tells us to. We've been good, always tithing, but not a lot of saving. I like to spend money, and not always on myself. I like to be able to give to our friends when they need it and I like to give gifts. We're doing fine. I just want a little extra cash to pay down the student debt ($##@#$!%* education) and put more in savings. We can't do this if I'm not working. We need my income to pay down the debt, not just pay towards it. Other than student debt, we live on cash monies.

And to my point. I've been sending out my resume and applying for jobs non-stop. Anywhere and everywhere. Hospitals, big oil companies, Craigslist you name it. Mostly looking for administrative jobs, because I know I can't get a real job at a hospital. I've also been applying for child life jobs at the hospital, which I am 100% qualified for with my degree. So, I'm sitting here waiting for a job. I think to myself everyday and speak it to the Lord, just give me a job. Sunday night as I'm drifting off to sleep the Lord tells me, "I have provided for you. It's not my lack of provision, it's your choices that have put you where you are." Duh. I left God out of the equation when I left my job (who does that!! and in this economy!). I never swallowed my pride and admitted it, but it had been lurking in my subconscious. And there it is. Of course God has provided. We have everything we need and then some. I need to suck it up and wait for the Lord.

Our pastor did a message on waiting a few weeks ago, and what it looks like to wait on God. He simply said "Keep doing the last thing the Lord told you to do." Alright, since I screwed that up, I'll just faithfully serve and work the temporary job, until it's over. Then, I'll continue to wait.

Halloween 2012

Our Halloween night consisted of Dexter and Insanity. I say that was one scary night!
Ryan has a lot of homework this week, so we didn't do trunk-or-treat at the church, sad.
We didn't even pass out candy.
We also didn't have costumes.
I wasn't going to dress up the dogs either, because we weren't going anywhere, but my mom called and wanted to know what her "grand-dogs" were going to be for Halloween.
So, we threw some costumes together real quickly and took pictures before the neighborhood children came by.

Coco is an Inuit (I know lame, but he had the accessories) he wouldn't wear the hood

Mosby is the big bad wolf disguised as grandma

No costumes here, but I creeped out this Halloween picture!

{Hope everyone had a safe and Happy Halloween 2012}
