New job update

I miss the babies from my previous job, no doubt about it. The atmosphere was different and so were the expectations.

This has been a whirlwind of a week on the new job, exciting and exhausting. It's too early in the game to judge fully how I'm feeling. I know I need to do a lot of praying and listening, because I'm feeling quite defeated, that's the one thing I know I'm feeling.

I'm still doing the same job, so I still enjoy it, but my heart is being pulled. I don't know what God's plans are and that's disconcerting. So, I will be in prayer and maybe share more when I can wrap my mind around it.

Pictures of my new room before I set it all up. I'll snap some new ones. It's lovely. Everything is brand new and perfect.

Anniversary Vacation

I know you're expecting pictures of our anniversary trip, but I'm having trouble getting my computer to load pictures from the memory card. Boo. When I can upload them, you'll see them :)

We had an amazing time. We hiked about 20 miles altogether and had awesome food at the resort. We spent time by the pool and enjoyed the beauty of God's creation. It was so cool to see the sights and know we were still in Texas, barely, but still in the Lone Star State! We've already decided we've seen pretty much all of Texas and would like to plan a trip farther next year. There are a few ideas, but of course so much could change in a year.

It will be beautiful to see the changes that will occur as we make it into our third year of marriage- having completed two years. God is good and has given us everything we could need and then some. I'm so grateful for the Lord's provision and the love he's given me in Ryan. It's nice to get away together to just focus on us and our marriage.

As for the actual day (Tuesday), I came home from work, Ryan had made steaks for dinner and we had brownies with cookie dough ice cream for dessert. Ryan didn't have to work either, so I got to spend the whole evening with him--priceless.

2 years

Yesterday was our second wedding anniversary!
I married the greatest man in the world.
He loves me so much and proves that love to me daily.

Time to get away

Ryan dropped the dogs off at his sister's house yesterday, because we left super early this morning for Big Bend! Our anniversary is on Tuesday, and we're taking our annual anniversary vacation. Yay. I can't wait to see the landscape. We don't need to talk about the heat :)

We're staying at this resort just outside of the park and we got one night free for booking two nights. Sweet.

So, I say so long friends. We'll be back on Sunday night.

(I've got some updates for you guys when we get back.)

Saying Goodbye

When I accepted my new job, I had to tell my former employer I was leaving (that kind of deserves a duh). But, we had end of year reviews coming up around the time I had the interview and was offered the job, so I didn't know if I should wait until my end of year, or just tell them. Well, the Monday after I was offered the job (on a Friday) I had my end of year review. It goes like this: you make a professional portfolio, turn in your completed training hours, and fill out a self evaluation that is discussed between yourself the director and your supervisor. I did all of these things and went to my meeting. I was sweating bullets, very nervous to tell them I was leaving. The last page of the self evaluation has two boxes; one for "I'm returning" and the other that says "Not returning". I checked the obvious box.
My director flips through my first two documents and praises me on my hard work and professionalism. We then flip through the self evaluation, discuss some points and she turns to the last page and looks up with a saddened face. I thought she would take it well and my supervisor not. However, it was the opposite. Attached to the evaluation was my resignation letter that said I would be leaving in a month. I know that wasn't much time for them to find another teacher, but I had given them the appropriate notice. My director was upset and my supervisor was sad to see me go. I was kind and respectful and told them I was given an offer that would not be wise to turn down. They understood and wished me luck.
It's not that I didn't want to work for the people there, but it was becoming too overwhelming. I worked soo hard and received no credit or support from administration. I loved the children in my class, their parents, and my co-teacher, but I had to make a change for the better. This new company will take me places and there's so much room to grow within the company, it's very exciting.
The parents in my classroom threw me a party when I left and gave me a very nice gift card. They were always so compassionate and generous to us teachers. I will miss them and their sweet babies' faces!!
 Goodbye flowers

They were gorgeous and looked different from every angle.

25

Okay, so last year near my birthday I nearly panicked and thought I was going to be 25. I know, I know, 25 is so young and what not. But seriously, I was in a job that was taking me nowhere, just moving out of the in-law's house, and Ryan was just making a work change. So, we were just not where I thought we would be after a year of marriage, heck, in any aspect of life. So, when I calculated and realized I was just 24 I felt a little better. And now here we are 25 and it feels the same, but things are different and great!
We moved, got new jobs, and even added a puppy to the mix. So, let's take the time to drink in the youngness of 25 and see how we celebrated...

Last month Ryan found these on super sale and decided to buy them for my birthday!

I've always wanted to learn piano and I know what every key is and how to find middle C and figure all that out, but no actual music yet.
I know four drum rudiments and one solid beat. I'm not too shabby.

Pretty cool if I do say so myself. It's a starter drum set, so it's not the best quality, but hey I'm no professional yet :) The keyboard is very nice (I don't remember the brand and don't feel like walking into the other room to find out) and I can't wait to learn more. It's going to be fun to put music to the songs I've made up for my class.

On the actual birthday we did nothing special, went to work, came home, and Ryan went to work, but Saturday we made plans with my family to go to Galveston.
We went to the new Pleasure Pier, ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp (very good) and rode some rides. It was fun.
At the restaurant. We sat outside because the wait was so long and there was a serious gulf breeze making my hair do crazy things. I like the impromptu seagull flying by.
They're all nuts!
After the rides, I look beat!

25 be good to me please!!

More in May

I've been digging up things from May and don't know what we did in June. Apparently nothing. Ha. I'm sure I'll find something.
So, back to May (very wordy)
I started talking with a "mentor", as I've deemed her, about how I wasn't happy at my current job. I was feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, trapped, and a multitude of other negative emotions. So, she helped me put together a new resume and start looking for a new place to work. She told me about a week after we started looking about a job opportunity on the North side of Houston. I emailed a contact within the company and received a reply the same night. The girl told me over email that they had open positions and the next day I got an email about an interview. A group interview.
Now, I was quite skeptical about this kind of interview, but thought, it couldn't hurt to check it out. Getting to the interview is another story in itself. In short, I had nothing to wear that looked professional, so I had to buy an outfit. It's really more involved than that, but it's not important right now. So, I get to the location of this interview...woah!! The facility is amazing. State of the art, new and wonderful! I was starting to feel really good about this place.
The group interview went so well. I was interviewed with about six other people by the new center director, regional director, and the new center specialist (that's not her official title I don't remember it). They asked questions to the group as a whole and then a few they wanted everyone to answer individually. Every answer just rolled off my tongue as if I had practiced a speech. I was in shock of how easily the answers came, and just knew it was going to be good.
After the interview is over, we're all shaking hands to leave and handing in resumes. The new center director shook my hand and just said it was very nice to meet me, the new center specialist shook my hand and said in a low voice "you'll be receiving an email very soon", as in we want to offer you a second interview, and the regional director shook my hand and winked at me saying "we'll be in touch very soon." Super flattering to say the least.
I was expecting to have to wait a week for an email, as the center specialist said it would be that long before we heard anything. Well, at 1:30 a.m. I received an email from her saying that she would really like to talk to me and what would be a good time to call. I emailed her back with a time thinking she wanted to call me in for a second interview.
Well, she calls the next day at the scheduled time and says she wants to ask some follow-up questions over the phone. So, I answer her questions and she offers me a job right there on the phone!! I accepted the job and am now working on the North side. The center is brand new, just built. I'll be doing the same job, but with a company that will be able to propel my career beyond the early childhood classroom. I'm confident this is going to be a very good move.
I love the new center and the team that has been assembled. They are hardworking professionals with similar ideals as mine and committed to quality! I love it!!

In May

In May I forgot to mention that we went to sweet Georgia peach's first birthday party. She is such a sweet girl!! What a sweet family.

Also, for Ryan's birthday card I had the dogs pose with signs I made them and put it as the background on the computer. Ryan had to see it, because I left him a birthday note that said to sync his Zune with the birthday playlist I made him.

Hey now, Hey now

my boyfriend's back. Okay, not true, but I'm back! Sorry about the hiatus a lot has happened since the last post.

Let's see...we left off in June.

We went to South Padre with my parents for a deep sea fishing trip. We caught red snapper which is delicious and of course so fresh since we caught it ourselves.

We didn't catch all those fish, but between me, Ryan, my mom, dad, and little brother we caught 10 red snapper. The boat limited out (each person can only catch two fish).
The whole boat's catch
Part of the family at dinner. The company that took us fishing is on the same pier as a restaurant that will cook your fish for something like five dollars and you get a side. Pretty great. It was delicious.
We were all so tired.
We walked the pier after dinner, because there was going to be a firework show. And naturally there was a pirate statue.
And a cannon.
And a giant pirate bench.
And on the ride home, Mosby slept on top of my little brother, because he was hogging the seat.

Good trip!
