New addition to the family

And praise the Lord it's not human. Don't get me wrong. We want to have babies, but now is not the right time. I love me some babies, I think we all know that.

His name is Benaiah
He's from the wedding--a centerpiece. My parents kept him until we moved and then they gave him to us. His name is Benaiah, because I'm reading this book "In a Pit With a Lion on a Snowy Day". The book is about Benaiah a soldier who chases a lion into a pit and kills it. I'm sure I could go into more detail, but if you would like to read the story it's in 2 Samuel 23. It's a convicting book and I've prayed about the lions that we're facing in our life right now. Scary, big, strong lions, but with the power of God we will prevail. So, I named him Benaiah, because it's on my mind and he's a strong fish.

We hope to get him something interesting to put in his bowl like a plant or a sunken ship. Ryan really wants to get an aerated tank. I'm not sure though. The bowl looks better.

There he is our cute little addition.

In the name of fall

I semi-decorated for fall. I threw together some stuff that feels like fall anyway.

Candy corn with candles and an orange flower pattern piece of scrapbook paper. The colors look better in person.

Same scrapbook paper for the "M" as on the table.

Happy Fall
Enjoy the colors and weather (when it makes it's way to Texas).

Pinterestingly Enough...

So, I've got a lot of things pinned over on pinterest. It's a wonderful place. Here are some things I've accomplished via ideas from pinterest.

I fixed the crooked "M".

It's cute. I'm still trying to decide if I want to scallop the edges.

I may very well redo it.

Ryan and I bought his sister owl salt and pepper shakers like these from Hobby Lobby. They're not exact, but they are salt and pepper shakers. Adorable.
That's all for now. I have a lot of in-progress projects and I can't wait to have them done, so the apartment will look like people live in it and not rats.

What's in the box

Okay, I'm trying to catch up on some of the things I've done in the new place. Basically, very little.

Here's what was in the box! (sorry it took me so long)
Beautiful right? I love it. It's called solar flair which makes it that much cooler.

So this solar flair material turned into living room curtains:
I love them! I made them using hem tape and the iron. I was way too lazy to run that much fabric through the sewing machine. But I did sew the top hem and I still need to cut and sew the bottom hem. There is way more fabric, beause of calculations that didn't match with the molding on the window. I did not hem both sides of the curtains either. Hah. Just one side the other is a raw edge and it doesn't look bad in person, but if it starts to bother me or someone thinks it looks bad, I'll fix it.

I hung the anchor Emily and Jonathan got us for our wedding gift by the front door. It's a door knocker from Portugal, and we couldn't rightly hang it on our apartment door, so it's beside it and it hold our keys - sometimes. I don't like how it looks with all the keys on it and I don't like the way it looks with one set of keys, it's lopsided. So, I might make a key ring for the mailbox key and keep it there. No big deal. I love the anchor!!

I also added a picture frame that I copied from here under the anchor. I thought it was too cute; it's a number one with RyanCecillyCoco.

We got an entertainment center/shelf unit from Ikea. We finished putting it together on Saturday. It's pretty cool, but now we need pretty things to put on it.
Watching Law and Order
What it looked like before:
EEK. Glad we fixed that.

We put together our dining room table a couple of weeks ago. It's great.
Letting the glue set

I painted an old cookie sheet turquoise (the same color as a shelf in the kitchen) to hang on the wall to hold notes and what not.
I can't decide if I want to paint the edges. Still throwing that around. It's on the wall just outside of the kitchen.

We bought these shelves from the Container Store with a gift card from the sister in laws:
That's two small units stacked on top of each other. We didn't like it, so we moved it around as is, put them side by side, and we were still not satisfied. So, we made them end tables for the couch. Our coffee table has two end tables, but I like the shelves much better (gotta snag a pic when the room isn't a disaster zone).

We got this fan for the bedroom, because it's hot in Texas. We looked for a fan we wouldn't be ashamed to display and got this classy looking dude:

Ryan putting it together.

And that's all that has really happened. I'm working on some other things, but I've been sick or distracted or too tired. Hopefully I can have something bright and sunshiney for you to view Thursday.

I feel completely crazy trying to make the apartment livable. Still struggling. I don't want to blog about the apartment until the place looks livable. We've got most things in place, but there are still quite a few items around the house that are not "home" yet. I really need to give myself a home pedicure and do some shopping. Heck, I haven't even showered. However, I did wash my face and put my hair back, throw in two loads of laundry, moved some things in the kitchen, finished putting the tv shelf together, painted a cookie sheet turned magnet board for the kitchen wall, turned in a dvd we rented from the apartment offic "Green Hornet", walked Coco twice, fixed the picture by the front door, moved my china to it's new "home", moved the bedroom furniture and stepped back skeptically, unpleased, made a weekly dinner menu, made a grocery list, and a list of things we need for the place for decorating and diying, checked the bank account, searched the net for fabric and curtains, failed, going to have to improvise. Now I'm waiting on Ryan to come home to eat lunch. He had to work today, boo. I'm told he won't have to work every Saturday, but he will for about three weeks maybe more. Boo again.
Some things on the to do:
Can't wait to be able to live in order!

We moved everything into the apartment on Saturday. It was a pretty easy move thanks to everyone who helped! That evening we had no space to cook let alone clean up. Hah. So we ordered a pizza. I washed dishes and towels all day so we could put the place together. What a mess we had. As of today we still have not put our dining room table together or finalized furniture placement in the living room, the bedroom is littered, no FILLED with clothes and things that need a home, and the second bedroom looks good. The one room we won't use often is nice and neat-ish. I broke down boxes today (oh I'm sick so I stayed home yesterday and today). I made a slow go of it so I wouldn't overwork myself and end up feeling worse. I broke down the boxes, folded the towels and put them in the linen closet, and I'm in the process of putting together our new bookshelf and sorting clothes in the bedroom before Ryan gets home from work. I have Coco next to me sleeping on the messy couch. He has made a wonderful transition, the little trooper. He is terrified of all the boxes and moving things around, but no episodes and no accidents on the carpet. What a smart little chihuahua/pinscher!

So for progress.
Saturday night
The living room
A view of the hallway from the living/dining room

A view of the dining room, glorious mirrored wall and all

The pantry (notice the bread we bought on the floor, hah)

The hall later in the night, slight progress yikes

The bedroom completely blocked. It's like something out of hoarders!

The dining room Sunday, real progress

The living room Sunday negative progress?

The kitchen 95% put together on Sunday night

There you have it for now. Things are slowly coming together. We will tackle the table tonight.
I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
