Scary Stuff

This stuff will really make you think before you go out of town or head off to work.
There are some really great tips here: The best are near the end. Common sense applied in a vigorous way.

1. Of course I look familiar. I was here just last week cleaning your carpets, painting your shutters, or delivering your new refrigerator.

2. Hey, thanks for letting me use the bathroom when I was working in your yard last week. While I was in there, I unlatched the back window to make my return a little easier.

3. Love those flowers. That tells me you have taste... And taste means there are nice things inside. Those yard toys your kids leave out always make me wonder what type of gaming system they have.

4. Yes, I really do look for newspapers piled up on the driveway. And I might leave a pizza flyer in your front door to see how long it takes you to remove it..

5. If it snows while you're out of town, get a neighbor to create car and foot tracks into the house. Virgin drifts in the driveway are a dead giveaway.

6. If decorative glass is part of your front entrance, don't let your alarm company install the control pad where I can see if it's set. That makes it too easy.

7. A good security company alarms the window over the sink. And the windows on the second floor, which often access the master bedroom - and your jewelry. It's not a bad idea to put motion detectors up there too.

8. It's raining, you're fumbling with your umbrella, and you forget to lock your door - understandable. But understand this: I don't take a day off because of bad weather.

9. I always knock first. If you answer, I'll ask for directions somewhere or offer to clean your gutters. (Don't take me up on it.)

10. Do you really think I won't look in your sock drawer? I always check dresser drawers, the bedside table, and the medicine cabinet.

11. Here's a helpful hint: I almost never go into kids' rooms.

12. You're right: I won't have enough time to break into that safe where you keep your valuables. But if it's not bolted down, I'll take it with me.

13. A loud TV or radio can be a better deterrent than the best alarm system . If you're reluctant to leave your TV on while you're out of town, you can buy a $35 device that works on a timer and simulates the flickering glow of a real television.

Coco's Toys

Coco has lots of toys, most of them bought by my mom. Here are three toys that she has bought him over the last year or so. Every time she sees this dragonfly she buys it for him; I mean every time. Haha

He sure does love these dragonflies! I love the progression of destruction.

Half Anniversary

Yesterday was our 6 month (half) anniversary. While we were dating Ryan and I would make it a point to celebrate our half anniversaries and why should our half wedding anniversary go unnoticed? No fear, it didn't. We went to a hibachi grill for dinner and bought Little Big Planet 2! One of our favorite PS3 games (LBP1) so owning the second was a for real must! I contemplated buying it for Ryan for Valentine's Day because we weren't buying half anniversary gifts, but I want to get him Star Wars on BluRay for Valentine's Day so convinced him to buy it for our half anniversary. What a fun celebration.

Ryan surprised me with pretty flowers next to our piggy bank named Horace.

She & Him

A parent of one of my infants told me the girl (Zooey Deschanel) from She & Him reminds her of me. Because of the bangs and the dance she does in the video "In the Sun". I like them the video is funny and the girl clearly has little rhythm; should I be flattered? haha.

What really makes me laugh is that the guy in yellow (Matt Ward) looks like a friend of ours Jonathan Daylett.

Our Fat Pillows

My parents bought us this nice memory foam Sealy mattress as a wedding gift (on top of the gift of the wedding!). It's great. We were just able to set it up in our tiny space in Ryan's parent's house. His parents bought us a bedroom set equipped with bed, two side tables, one tall dresser and one short vanity top dresser. Their nice (not my exact taste) but functional. All of the bedroom furniture except for the two dressers was being stored in the shed along with all of our other boxed-up junk. We pulled the bed out a couple of weeks ago, because we frankly want our space to feel like ours and the bed we were using is moving to Tara's new house and we would have been sleeping on the floor :(
So, here we are with our new mattresses and bed set up. The first night Ryan and I slept on the bed we realized that our small, squishy Wal-Mart pillows would not cut it. The next day we hit up the only store in Crosby that sells a variety of pillows, none other than Wal-Mart. You may be thinking here we go again for tiny, uncomfortable pillows, but we found some nice BeautyRest pillows. We knew we needed something pretty firm and hefty. These are queen sized pillows, extra firm, egyptian cotton. Really great! I had a really hard time squeezing them into the queen size pillowcases that came with our sheet set.
Notice how they are bursting out of the side of the pillowcases!
The bed view from the foot. It is a sleigh bed and has the same foot-board as headboard. Note: the pictures were hung on existing nails, not planned or orderly. Kind of drives me crazy.

Green with Envy

So Emily Dupuis-Powell is pregnant! Also, two out of four young women I attend a weekly Bible study with are pregnant. Honestly, I better get to hold these tiny ones a lot or I may explode. Ryan and I are definitely not in a place to start having children, but I want them sooo badly. If one more of my friends shows up pregnant I'm going to cry, big, fat alligator tears. :(  I'm so green with baby envy it's unhealthy.

My good friend Amanda Krzyzanowski-Cream came to Texas with her husband  for about a week. I got to see them today for the first time since they left in August. Oh how I've missed them. Jessica Krzyznowski came down from Dallas to hang out with them as well. They are currently living in North Pomona, CA while Amanda is going to graduate school. We decided to go to a great cafe in Galveston, Mosquito Cafe, and hit the strand. We had some fun and I love hanging out with them. It feels right.

The food is great there and the cafe is super cute.

2010 Top Three

Instead of doing a "Highlights from 2010" post I will now choose my "Top Three Highlights of 2010", because the year as a whole kinda sucked. No offense 2010; you could have been better. Praise God for the blessings and the times I would like to continue to leave behind.

#3 Lots of snow for Waco. The first time I really got to see and touch snow in was in my last semester at Baylor. Awesome!

#2 Graduating from Baylor! Really great education and really great times.

I got my hair cut a couple of weeks ago. It was sort of a major length chop, but not my usual chin bob. I got it cut to my shoulders and it was really far down the middle of my back.

I've also always liked my hair color, but recently I've wanted to go a bit darker. So, yesterday for another change I died it dark brown. Hope you like it as much as I do.
