Count down

One week until Spring Break! I definitely need this time away from Waco.
I went to an appointment for a cake baker, but I think my grandma might make the cake and we've got no details for now except for how I want it to look.
I tried on my wedding shoes with my dress finally to see if the shoes were too tall, but it's perfect! My mom took some pictures. She wanted me to make a straight face, but all I could do was laugh. The second picture with my shoes.

Ryan and I saw "The Crazies" yesterday. It was crazy. I almost had a panic attack in the theater, because it was a sold out show and there were so many people in the theater and a Freddy Krueger preview came on before the movie. I almost had to walk out, but I just threw up some Jesus help me's and I was able to watch it. I liked it, but I would like weird scary movies! On my way back to Waco from College Station I got pulled over! Booooo. He gave me a warning and then I cried the whole way home.
My roommate Courtney was baptized today! It was an exciting time and I only have one lousy picture.

Frozen

So, yesterday Waco experienced a "winter storm" full of snow. Yes, it snowed from 7:30 in the morning unitl about 9:00 p.m. We still had class, don't be alarmed. (boooo) My roommate and I decided to build a snowman and have a snowball fight on campus after class. We head over to a patch of ground covered in snow by Armstrong Browning library.
First, we do not know how to make a snowman. We asked a guy walking by and he said "yea, just put some snow together and roll it into a ball." Oh, gee thanks, I had no idea snowmen were supposed to be round. Great help. Second, we start to "roll" the snow. It worked pretty well once we got the hang of it. Problem, snow is incredibly heavy. We had to try about five times to get the body portion of the snowman on the base. Very Difficult. Three, Courtney knocks our huge snowman over. Four, my hands are so cold they are shaking and I cannot feel my fingers despite wearing mittens. I was in a lot of pain, so I made her finish putting the snowman back together and ran for the car. I wanted to cry my hands hurt so bad, so I'm MAD at snow and don't want it to snow in Texas ever again. Every time I thought about snow yesterday I felt sick to my stomach. Serious trauma!

Ready, set . . . can we slow down?

Yesterday Ryan and I went to look for a place to live when we get married. We want to rent a small house or something instead of an apartment, because of the dog. He's small, but a pain to walk three times a day. We hit up a realty company that showed us six properties. Everything in College Station is pretty old and not old enough to be cool, just kind of gross. So, most of the things we saw weren't in great condition and they are small. Ryan said we could not get a nice apartment in the price range we've set and the houses in our price range are as described above. We did however see one small duplex, two bedrooms, only one bathroom, a garage, washer and dryer inside, and a fenced backyard.

This was one of the last places we saw. The picture is listed on their website as the house we looked at, but it's the wrong house. However, it does look similar. It's same color and brick, but the garage door is blue on the duplex we looked at. It's fine for Ryan and I and Coco, because it has a backyard. It's $100 more that I wanted to pay, but worth it compared to the stuff we saw for less. There is some wallpaper in the dining room, kitchen, and bathroom that I will INSIST on taking down and probably painting. It's pretty awful. Ryan and I are going to pray about this and give the guy an answer by the end of the week. I'm excited and nervous, because I don't know how we're going to pay for everything. I know God will provide and I need to have faith, because we are his beloved and he cares for us.
It was a fun day. Reality is setting in, but I'm not ready yet. There's so much left to do before we get married!

Another Week Down

I'm ecstatic that this week is over. It was a calm week, no headaches, minimal stress outs. I went to dinner with my roommate tonight, Chili's of course where else do we go? I came home and did some MUCH needed room cleaning. The kitchen will have to wait. I'm off to get some peaceful sleep and see Ryan tomorrow in College Station. We're going house hunting! Things are coming together, now I need a job!

Perfect Day

Okay the day wasn't perfect, but the weather sure was! It was so beautiful Coco and I decided to take a stroll around the apartments. We encountered a squirrel chewing on some grass that was not phased by being nose to nose with my beastly mutt. Then I said, "get it Coco" and he kind of jumped around on the leash and the squirrel jumped onto the tree. Mind you, he did not climb it, but sat there chewing on his grass watching us. Then we turned the corner and Coco got freaked by a bbq pit that was turned on it's side under the stairs. He jumped back and started barking. Hackles standing and all. He was very upset by the tiny bbq pit. It was a good walk in the perfect weather.
I had to put Lola, my engagement ring, into the shop 2 weeks ago, because the center stone came loose. This is the second time it's happened and the jewelry store says it's normal, but I don't like it of course. Well I got her back today and she is sparkly and fixed! After that I went to Forever 21 and bought two cardigans. Man I love cardigans. They're great. One is for everyday wear when the weather warms up and the classrooms go ice cold and the other is to wear over the dress I bought for my bachelorette party!
This morning before class I stopped by the restroom on the first floor of Carol Science and the stall I chose had three post it notes and one was a Jonny Diaz song with the lyrics "there can never be a more beautiful you." The bottom of the post its said operation beautiful. So I checked it out. http://operationbeautiful.com/ It's enlightening and reminds me of the Dove campaign. I did feel beautiful.

Yesterday work was really hard and the kids were CRAZY. I worked twice as hard as I normally have to and was exhausted by the end of the day. I got paint and syrup on my favorite wear-all jeans.

Life in college...

What boring days I have to share being in college. I've done nothing interesting so far this week and I haven't even cleaned my room, depressing. I'm at my wits end with some things and have nothing but frustrations. I believe by the end of the week all will turn out well however. So I take heart in Christ and continue to do work that will please him.
Yesterday I attended a girls q & a session at our college minister's house with his wife. She is an incredibly wise, Godly woman with her heart in the right place. She is beautiful and amazing; such a heart for us poor college kids. Did I mention I'm sick and tired of being in college??!

I've started working with a new ministry at church called Homebound Ministry and I meet with two other girls and we go out to an older woman's house and sit and talk with her for an hour or so. I honestly started because I get credit for my aging class, but it's nice to make connections and get to know more people in the college ministry. They're great girls, super sweet, and our friend we meet with is 85 and her name is Dreena, she is a hoot!
I'm ordering the other bridesmaid dresses, finally! I need to get a lot done in a short amount of time, and I'm having trouble. Part of my frustrations.
OH I got an email today about commencement and cap and gowns and stuff. Way exciting! My parents are going to buy me graduation pictures. All I can really think of in regards to graduation is more work! Getting a job, marriage, more planning. I think I'm going to explode.

Valentine's Weekend

Ryan came to see me on Friday! He brought me pink mini tulips, my favorite flower, and a basket with lots of candy and a cute bear, a tradition of sorts. He also gave me a sapphire and diamond ring! It's beautiful and matches perfectly a pair of heart sapphire and diamond earrings he gave me in 2008, that he forgot about btw. He bought it because I was telling him I didn't have a something blue for the wedding, but now I do!!

We went to my church in Waco this morning and came home ate tacos and watched Zombieland. Horribly gruesome, but I love me some zombies! It was fantastic.

Our tacos and cream soda.

Thursday Madness

I was up pretty late reading for American Literature and just about fell asleep at work with the kids. They're lively, but my patience was wearing thin today. My fifteen minute break did not come soon enough!
I get home after class and find my precious Coco asleep on my bed as usual, but with a nice display of artistic expression:

Look at that face, he knew he was in trouble.

The rubble of my eaten book and notepad.
Today is also the day of a good friends birthday, Danita. I saw her for a few minutes. She went out with her boyfriend (?) for dinner. And on my way to dinner with friends from small group it started to snow!! I mean big time snow. I was super excited and was terrified to drive in it. The roads became slush quickly. I drove pretty slow, but it was magical!

Snow at McAlister's, where we had dinner

The boys in the car next to me were throwing snowballs and hit my car. It was funny.

Views from my balcony

The serious slush on the stairs. I had to be very careful due to my inability to walk down stairs.
Today was pretty chaotic and I have a test tomorrow. I'm not quite prepared; I was hoping class would be canceled, but alas not.

Lovely

Ryan is coming to see me for Valentine's Day. I'm stoked; we're going to cook dinner and rent "Zombieland"! I love zombie movies. I think I've added "Couple's Retreat" to the list as well. We're also going to his Homegroup Valentine party and I made shirts! I made a shirt for Danita's birthday too. I'm on a budget and that's all I could afford.

Danit's is on the left. The 1, 2, 3, 4 is from a Plain White T's song whom we adore! The shirt on the right is mine. I couldn't stop with the hearts.
Ryan's shirt: the left is the front and the two on the left are the back and detail.

Ahead of the game

I stayed up really late catching up on my American Literature reading for class; I didn't even have time to shower yesterday...gross! Also, over the weekend I finished all but one piece of homework due on Friday--a letter to my local official about a topic that interests me. It's for my policy and advocacy class, which I Love!
I'm working on the save the dates. I'm pretty sure I've got the one I want, but I need to print a sample to be sure it's the one. This task has frustrated me to no end, because the way I want the picture degrades the resolution and it's not clear. I have been moving and cropping for two days. I will print a sample and then post the chosen one.

Yesterday I took Coco out for his usual after school walk. It had been raining all day and was especially cold. I was holding Coco, because he doesn't like puddles, and talking on the phone meaning no free hands. So I walked down each stair from my apartment, set foot on the sidewalk and fell to my knees. I don't know how it happened, but it hurt really bad and now I have bruises. I'm not good with stairs.
Oh score: Monday I went to Wal-Mart for Ryan's Valentine gift and bought "The Burbs" for $5! Hilarious movie with Tom Hanks, and I also bought the first "Bridget Jones" for $7.50, holla!

Sunday, Sunday

I really hate football so I'm not watching the SuperBowl. I am instead catching up on my reading from last week. Only 9 chapters to go. I've finished homework for the beginning of the week and now I want a bath.

Finally Free

Last week is finally over! I'm so glad. I took off two days of work--sucko--and one day of class for being sick and I needed a "personal day" as I call it to work on my resume and look up teaching programs and chill out. I did not feel productive this week at all and I'm glad I get to start a new week. This week will be better.

Ryan and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary a few weeks ago, not on our anniversary. We went out to dinner and went to Edward's Cinema for a film and I got to wear my new dress with no picture evidence. I looked adorable ;) I hung out with him in Bryan on Sunday night. We ordered Gumby's pizza and watched "UP" which I had never seen. Good weekend. I also went to a bridal show with my mom in Galveston.
Friday and today I got to go on a prayer retreat with my college group "Prayer Awakening". AMAZING. God reveals so much through prayer and meditation. It only enhances the experience when others are praying for you and your family.

Oy...

It has been a crazy week. Ryan and I celebrated our anniversary on Saturday and I have a few pics to upload, but haven't yet. I have too much to do and I don't want to do it.
I'm taking a "personal" day off from class this Thursday to look up jobs and send out resumes, so hopefully I can catch up by then!
Just exhausted for now.
Pretty much how I feel.
